FAQ and helpful answers
A direct cremation is a private cremation, with no funeral service and no one in attendance at the crematorium. A person is cremated shortly after death and the ashes are returned to their family.
Rest assured, the Easy Funerals team will treat your loved one with care and dignity.
Time spent alone with your loved one is referred to as a 'viewing.' We can offer a viewing for you and your family. Speak with our friendly funeral directors to learn the options available.
The NSW Public Health Regulation requires all cremations to use a coffin. A simple MDF (medium-density fibreboard) coffin is included as part of our Cremation Only Package.
This is a very personal decision and youshould do what is right for you and your family. Here are some options to consider:
Keep the ashes at home, in an urn
Many people choose to keep the cremains in an urn at home. This allows for a physical connection with your loved one and can provide a sense of closeness. There are many different urn styles, shapes and sizes.
Visit the Mountain View Crematoria online store for urn ideas.
Internment or memorial garden
Many cemeteries have dedicated gardens where you can scatter your loved ones ashes or bury them at a dedicated rose bush or tree, with a memorial plaque placed. Memorial walls may also be available. You contact your nearest or preferred cemetery to learn about options available.
Bury the ashes
You can bury your loved one’s ashes in a cemetery or on private property. Some people choose to place the urn in a family plot or a dedicated memorial garden.

Cremation Jewellery:
You can purchase pendants that hold a small portion of ashes. This allows you to share the ashes amongst family members.
There are companies that can turn your loved one’s ashes into synthetics diamonds and others that will create resin jewellery, incorporating your loved one’s ashes.
Create Memorial Artifacts:
You can have your loved one’s ashes turned into art pieces, such as glass sculptures or paintings.
Cremation Fireworks:
There are companies that offer a service where the ashes are placed into fireworks. This makes for a unique memorial celebration.
